Reflection

This post will be similar to the Memorial day posts of many military spouses. But I will make the confession that before becoming a Marine wife I had half the patriotism that I now have. Before I would spend Memorial more like a 4th of July celebration even though I am the daughter of an Army veteran it only half occurred to me what this day is truly about. I am ashamed to admit it took my husband's enlistment in the military to draw out my sense of pride in America's armed forces and the the ultimate sacrifice some have made. Up until 2 years ago I was living my usual civilian life, the life SO many still live, but thats the exact life the armed forces fight to protect- the little American bubble. But now I know the personal side of memorial day, and give thanks to the many other military families and my respects to those who have given their lives, and those who have lost their husband and father I am deeply sorry and grateful. -K.

finally got some energy

I hate to admit this, but I'll be honest- I went to the tanning bed (yeah i know skin cancer alarms are going off everywhere) but it helped alot! And then I scrapbooked! yay! I will post pics but promise not to laugh, I am not a pro - far from it, this is my 1st ever scrap book! And I am not ashamed of it's ammature staus,in fact I find it endearing haha- hopefully the hubby will to =) *kisses* to those who listened to me gripe this morning!

Bad nights sleep- quick pick me up?

I really don't know what brought it on? maybe spicy food, or the fact I have been so stressed = but I slept TERRIBLE last night. One of those nights where you wake up and you are SO thankful it was all just a dream! Now that I am awake I just don't feel rested! But I did just watch an interview with Sandra Day O'Conner, what a doll she is! so inspiring! One of those interviews that makes you want to get out and make a difference! So anyway, if anyone has a trick to the "quick pick me up" I would be ever so grateful!

call me a conformist! but i want an iphone! the hubs says we can get it next month =) yay! ps- today i remembered to take cookies to the recruiters office!

rainy, yet productive

Well today, though rainy and gross, I went to the recruit office to see my Husband's recruiter (from back in the day) we have managed to stay friends with him all this time and ironically he and his family will be moving back to Camp Lejeune  a little before I move to FINALLY live with my husband haha! He loves to keep tabs on J. and I guess its cool cause he was there for day 1 (literally). He is a super nice guy and everytime I go by and see the guys I forget to bring some bake goods (dang it!) SSgt Roper has given me TONS of USMC stuff so it would be nice if I could remember huh? Tomorrow I will bake a cake and take it up there (remind me if I forget haha)

1.  My parents made me get my bachelors in something other than nursing in case I ever got burnt out I had an alternate career option, oddly enough my husband has 2 bachelors degrees that he also doesnt use. we're nerds!

Things I may forget

Well ladies, in 4 weeks my Dad, step mom, and I are driving a Uhaul 14 hrs to Jacksonville, NC to move my husband out of the barraks and into his new apt! Because he will be living there a year without me I have been trying to remember things that my hubs will need, BASIC things that i will forget - HELP ME NOT FORGET, what are some things that you need that I will probably forget 

so far....

• A medicine kit 
• toilet paper
• laundry detergant
• bath towels
• sheets 
• hand soap

So if ya'll could help me out it would be so awesome!

old skool post

Lately i have been posting videos and today decided to go with the old skool regular rambling blog post =) In light of recent events on http://www.milspouse.com/forums.aspx?id=40(which i STILL highly recommend ) I took note of how close i had grown to these women. Literally i joined when J. shipped to boot, I was lost and these women took me under their wing and "schooled" me on military life. Fast forward and now I myself "schooling" women who are in my the same position i was-(lost, confused, and intimidated) on how to cope with distance, find your place in the military , and a shoulder to lean on with each phase military life brings. I of course still need a shoulder, and the occasional guidance =) the thought of losing some of my new friends is heart breaking I pray Milspouse.com does the right thing. Those of you who aren't members come SIGN UP!

whats YOUR opinion?

ok my opinion:
1. for 7, hell, for ANY age...they are AMAZING dancers 
2. Nothing wrong with the costume, i used to dance from 4 yr to my freshmen year of college and this is just dance costumes.... 
3. the majority of the dance was great, were some of the moves a inappropriate for their age? yeah. But bless these little girls hearts...they danced their BUTTs off!
4. I feel main stream media was a LITTLE harsh, but then again...it's always gonna be something

i remember the first time i saw this video was before my husband went to boot, i used to cry my eyes out with pride, i watched it today and still tears. i couldn't be more proud of my husband! (his roommate is in this video- how crazy!)

where i live is OK of course there are some places i wouldnt want to leave but i am pretty easy!

to be honest, i dont sometimes i over eat- ha sue me! if you dont overeat often it shouldnt be a problem!

the monthly...

well ugh, its my time of the month and i have one of those monthly's that they prescribe you pain killers for your cramps, and you cry at just about anything,everything is so major. I am so freakin emotional and who am I taking it all out on? my brand new hubby. I caused this huge argument and then bc i am so darn stubborn, even when he was trying to fix it i just kept making it worse. He is a really understanding guy, so we are okay now. I am just so frustrated and feel so guilty for pitchin a bitch fit when we haven't even been married a WEEK yet! I know alot has factored into it, I had to leave him and come home after only 3 days of marriage, i am an emotional crazy lady right now, and i just in general suck at distance, and of course the hubs is so super busy! On an up note: today I am staying sweet and positive but I still feel the guilt and like he is frustrated & aggrevated. UGH K!

its so crazy to think about...

.... but this is my last Tuesday as an unmarried woman =) haha. OKay i gotta say, everyone should go out and get a diet cherry limeade (if you have a Sonic) pretty amazing! My final is TOMORROW (biting nails) BUT at the same time anxious to get it over with! Gonna go have a little Mexican fiesta with some of my friends after the final as a mini-bachelorette party, haha nothing too risque, i'm not really the stripper type =) -K.

5 days!

5 days till wedding bells and a mere 3 days till he picks me up from the air port! whoop whoop! I have gone into full blown "get as hott as i possibly can in these last days" mode, teeth bleeching, working out, tanning, i am half packed and have a list of things to do and when to do them! ha i am in freak bride mode huh? i would type up my list but it would only further excite me and make me want to go ahead and do everything on the list. which would be tragic cause then i would have NOTHING to do to pass the time the last day! let me apologize for my excited rambling, you are all good sports for putting up with my cheezyness in the last remaining days, i love you all dearly! =) -K.

1. Are you superstitious? nah, not really- to be honest i dont put much thought in it

5. Have you ever waxed your girlie/manly parts..or any other part of your body?  i used to wax the brows but then got into plucking, and due to freaks i am not gonna talk about my lady parts

6. Are you a spender or a saver? awwwwh hate this question, spender.

7. If  you were starring in a movie..who would you want to play your leading man/woman? i am gonna say James Franco, cuz he is super sexy

8. Smoker..never smoked..social smoker..or smoked back in the day? never smoked, not even once, and neither has my hubs- one of VERY few Marines hat dont haha

i can't be on time to safe my life! so i guess add that in my bio haha! I am a 25 yr old nursing student, getting married in 6 days! my hubs is a Marine stationed out of Camp Lejeune, we met in college ( i got my BS before nursing school ), and i am VERY grateful that our entire USMC journey has been together, I have been there every step of the way, from recruitment till presently fleet, and it has been amazing ( not always fun, but amazing ) Random things about me- i have a love for blues music, and Lex Land, i dont like cinnamon or coffee or tea even though i'm from the deep south, i love scrambled eggs, seafood, sushi, and pecans, i have 0 technology skills, i can honestly honestly say J. is the love of my entire life, my very best friend and i literally couldn't be more estatic!!! feel welcome to stay tuned for further life and military occurances!

6 days! holy cow!

6 days till i am a married woman, but only 4 days till i see my honey and i am OMG SO FREAKIN EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! He is all i can think about, and listening to how excited he is, is the most precious thing EVER. This morning he called talking about how yesterday alot of the guys brought their wives and kids to final formation and J. held one guys little boy and talked with him, and another guys little girl walks around giving every Marine a skittle (how stinkin cute)J. says he is so ready to start a family =) I am too, but i know we need at least a yr or 2 of just couple's time for ourselves! Gonna hit the books hard today and tomorrow, pray for my final haha! ps- welcome new reader! -K.
